Policy Pulse: Africa on Focus

A Publication Series on Dialogue, Advocacy, and Transformative Policy Thinking

The Coalition for Dialogue and Negotiations (CDN) is proud to announce the launch of its flagship journal series, Policy Pulse: Africa on Focus—a platform for critical, policy-oriented research and writing that amplifies African perspectives, confronts urgent socio-political issues, and engages diverse actors in shaping just, inclusive, and peaceful futures across the continent.

About Policy Pulse: Africa in Focus

Policy Pulse: Africa in Focus is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal rooted in the belief that policy must be informed by grounded knowledge, people-centered analysis, and visionary advocacy. The journal welcomes voices from within Africa and the diaspora, drawing insights from community activists, scholars, policy experts, and practitioners. We aim to serve as a conduit between research and action—between those who shape policy, those who implement policy, and those who live its consequences.

Thematic Focus

“Negotiating Peace, Justice, and Belonging in Conflict-Affected African Regions”

We invite submissions that explore how individuals, communities, movements, and institutions navigate violence, displacement, and marginalization, while advocating for peace, justice, and identity in rapidly shifting political terrains. The inaugural issue will foreground contexts such as Cameroon, Sudan, the DRC, and Ethiopia, while drawing comparative lessons across the continent.

Possible themes include:

  • Grassroots peacebuilding and transitional justice
  • Diaspora-led advocacy and international policy influence
  • Indigenous knowledge in conflict mediation
  • Feminist and youth movements in shaping peace agendas
  • Displacement, statelessness, and the right to return
  • Digital activism and voice in authoritarian contexts
  • Democracy and Elections,
  • Civil liberties,
  • Conflicts,
  • Foreign policy
  • US-Africa policy engagement: power and potential
