Our unwavering foundation for inclusive dialogue and sustainable peacebuilding.

The following core principles inform our work:

Reliance on International Law and Practice

As a core principle of international law, we believe in the legal right of Southern Cameroonians to decide their destiny in the global order. Also, self-defense is an inherent right of a nation and its people under customary international law.

Justice and Peace Are Achievable

We believe that justice and sustainable peace can only be achieved through internationally mediated negotiations, without preconditions, that address the root cause(s) of the conflict in Southern Cameroons.

Guided by Facts

Our efforts to program, mitigate, and engage in the resolution of this conflict are grounded in empirical evidence and a rigorous evaluation of the impact.

Our Partners

We value our partners and understand that our impact is greater when we work with multiple partners across governments, academia, local and international organizations, civil society, and most importantly, the communities affected by conflicts in Africa.

Innovation, Learning, and Sharing

We assess new paths to addressing challenges, integrate lessons learnt into our programming, and are available to share our knowledge, approaches, and experiences to assist in pursuing justice and peace across the African continent.

OUR PRIMARY GOALS

As CDN continues to follow developments in the Southern Cameroons closely and remains prepared to re-engage in negotiations when needed, we believe it is both timely and essential to also turn our focus toward other overlooked conflicts across Africa, aligned with the two primary goals upon which the organization was founded:

  • To contribute to the resolution of armed conflicts through internationally mediated negotiations, and
  • To pursue durable peace through justice, reconciliation, and reconstruction.
