Learn Who We Are

The Coalition for Dialogue and Negotiations (CDN) is a United States–based 501(c)(3) international non-governmental organization founded in response to the escalating armed conflict in the Southern Cameroons. CDN emerged from growing demands for inclusive dialogue following widespread civil protests by lawyers and teachers in 2016. In July 2019, a small group of concerned thought leaders—Dr. Denis Foretia, Mrs. Judith Nwana, Mr. Henry Atem Oben, and Dr. Valentine Fontama began laying the foundation for such a framework. By November 2019, their collective efforts formally gave rise to CDN, an organization committed to fostering dialogue, justice, and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Our Mission

To provide a platform for dialogue and negotiations to resolve endemic and often neglected armed conflicts across the African continent.

  • Mitigation Efforts: To contribute to mitigating the effects of these conflicts on civilian populations and address other internal challenges.
  • Collaboration: To encourage and facilitate collaboration among belligerent groups in seeking satisfactory conflict resolution approaches.
  • Justice and Peace: To contribute to justice and durable peace-building processes.
  • Recovery: To lay the groundwork for robust and sustained recovery in conflict regions.
  • Priority: The conflict in the Southern Cameroons remains CDN's top priority until resolved.

Our Vision

An inclusive, just, and peaceful African society where the human rights and civil liberties of communities and regions affected by armed conflicts are protected, promoted, and preserved.
